A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR A HEALTHY AND NATURAL SMILE

Dental implants

Dental implants are not merely a replacement for the lost tooth – they are a permanent, precise, and secure solution that restores function and aesthetics. Envision them as a robust foundation for your new tooth, crafted from titanium or titanium/zirconium alloy, celebrated for its resilience and biocompatibility (the same alloys have been used in orthopedics for decades).

What does the implant procedure involve?

While it may sound like a complex procedure, the process is, in fact, highly structured and efficient:

  • Diagnosis and planning - the dentist assesses the bone condition and the patient's overall oral health, often utilizing 3D X-ray imaging (cone beam CT).
  • Surgical procedure - the implant is inserted into the bone under local anesthesia. The procedure is minimally invasive, painless, and typically takes a relatively short time - about half an hour if we are talking about the placement of just one implant.
  • Osseointegration This is the period of 2 to 3 months during which the implant fuses with the bone.
  • Prosthodontics - a titanium individual abutment is placed on the implant, followed by a crown, most often made of full zirconium.

The minimum age for implant placement is 18 years, while there is no upper age limit. Candidates must have sufficient healthy bone and an overall good health condition that allows the procedure.

The result is a stable, functional, and aesthetically natural tooth that blends seamlessly with your smile.

How are implants maintained?

While they are resistant to decay, dental implants still require regular and careful oral hygiene. It is important to brush your teeth daily, use dental floss or interdental brushes, avoid smoking, and schedule regular visits to the dentist.

Lack of adequate hygiene can lead to peri-implantitis – an inflammatory condition that can threaten the stability and longevity of the implant.

Advantages of implants compared to bridges and dentures

These features make implants a functional solution that improves the quality of life in the long term:

  • Stability and functionality: Implants are fixed and do not move during chewing or speaking.
  • Aesthetics: they are made individually and blend naturally with the dental arch, without connecting to adjacent teeth.
  • Preservation of adjacent teeth: unlike bridges, healthy adjacent teeth remain intact.
  • Prevention of bone loss: the implant stimulates the jaw bone, slowing down its resorption after tooth extraction.

Impact of implants on bone health

After tooth loss, the jaw bone undergoes a natural process of resorption (shrinkage). Since implants take over the function of the tooth root, they stimulate the bone and thus prevent further volume loss, preserving the natural structure of the face.

What is the price and what is included?

The price of a dental implant can vary depending on:

  • Type and quality of the implant system
  • Crown material (metal-ceramic, zirconium-ceramic, full ceramic)
  • Necessary additional procedures (e.g., bone augmentation)
  • Expertise and experience of the dentist
